Ordnary

Building software that helps everyone do more.

We're a small team from the Netherlands making software that a lot of people rely on. Here's how we work, what keeps us going, and how to come build with us.

Our story

How a handful of people grew Ordnary into products people use every day.

We started Ordnary because we kept opening five tabs to do one job. Different logins. Different bills. Different ideas of what good software even looks like. None of it talked to each other, and most of it didn't really work for the people using it.

So we stopped waiting for someone else to fix that and started building. Slowly at first. One product, then another. Same account, same cloud, same small team writing the code at the kitchen table on Sundays. The plan was never to launch a hundred things. The plan was to make a few that hold up, and make them feel like they belong together.

That's still the plan. We design the products in-house, we run the infrastructure ourselves, and we sit with the people who use them. When something breaks, we know who to call, because it's us. When something is good, we know why, because we built it on purpose.

We work across software, cloud, AI, communication, and creative tools. From the outside that sounds like a lot. From the inside, it's one thing: a place to sign in once, build something real, and not have to fight the tools you're paying for. The category names on top are just where the work shows up.

We're a small company on purpose. Small enough that decisions take a conversation, not a quarter. Small enough that nothing ships unless we'd put our names next to it. Big enough to take the work seriously, year after year, until the things we want to exist actually exist.

We don't think we're reinventing anything. We just think the bar should be higher than this. The default for software became messy, expensive, and a little bit lonely, and we'd rather not accept that. So we keep building. Carefully. Quietly. With the long view in mind.

Commitments

Values only mean something if they shape what you actually do. These are the commitments we hold ourselves to: the principles behind the decisions we make, including the hard ones.

  1. 01

    Protect people

We put the safety and wellbeing of the people who use our products first. That means building careful safeguards into our models, taking child safety seriously, and declining to build things that put people at risk, even when it would be easier or more profitable not to.

  2. 02

    Respect privacy

People should stay in control of their own data. We collect only what we need, are honest about how we use it, and never treat your information as a product to be sold.

  3. 03

    Expand access

Powerful tools shouldn't be reserved for a few. We work to keep our products affordable and accessible, with a free tier that lets anyone get started and designs that work for people of all abilities.

  4. 04

    Build honestly

We say what our software does and doesn't do, own our mistakes, and fix them in the open. We'd rather be trusted than impressive.

  5. 05

    Stay accountable

These commitments aren't a marketing exercise. We measure ourselves against them, listen when people tell us we've fallen short, and keep working to do better.
